I started my cybersecurity journey about 1 year ago by blindly participating in CTF’s with some of friends who were also new and jsut fascinated like me about hacking and learning cybersecurity we satified our inside hacker just by finding some /robots.txt and decoding bas64 and over flooding AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA to get a buffer overflow and we feel like Mr robot.
It was good upto some period of time but a time came when we saw our growth to be constant it’s not like we didn’t try to read writeups to of those hard challenges which we were unable to solve not only hard ones even intermeddiate one’s also , :( because we were complete noob and we were lacking basic pre requisite of computer even I am non computer science guy most of the concepts were just bouncer for my brain because , linux was new to me everything seems very tough in this journey we were not aware that practice platforms exsists and there was no one t.o mentor us
I think I was not only the guy who struggled in his startting phase because cybersecurity is like an ocean it has lots of topic tons of knowledge to gain but in order to reach those tops levels and to become an expert you need your roots be strong you should know basic concepts so you can get the tough one’s , here come the big questions where should I start from? What should I learn first?
Even I think many people tried learn and join the cybersecurity path (after watching Mr Robot) but they gave up beccause they don’t know where to begin and what to learn this might be a serious problem for all of you since no one is going to mentor you and lay a foundation path for you.
But no need to worry this is 2021 there are many practice platforms and from my suggestions tryhackme got you covered seriously even to overcome the problems which I mentioned above to make people aware and not to fear off learning our university opesource club made a dedicated video on this topic in the video we have discussed some pre-requisites before getting started and all platforms to practice :
To be more specific in order to take root access you need to know fundamentals of server how it works how to check which kernel version it’s running , how computer devices are communicating between each other in a network, learning linux not only because it come with a set of hacking tools but to become smoother in linux shell/terminal to make your life more easier
because : ~ when there is a shell there is a way
All the pre-requisites which we discussed in our video tryhackme provides a dedicated Pre-Security learning path which will teach you the pre-requisite technical knowledge to get started in cyber security.

Cyber Security Introduction- To attack web applications, you need to understand how they work. Hacking websites isn’t some magical process but does come down to knowing how a part of a website functions and being able to identify weaknesses to take advantage of. Once you have a good understanding of the fundamentals, you’ll learn about the techniques and tools used in hacking sites.
Network Fundamentals- basic principles of networking and computer system is a must networking is a massive topic, start with some basic types of protocols, topologies , OSI model and many such root level topic are very important to understand that how modern devices are establishing connections and sending and receiving data between them.

How The Web Works- What is happening behind the scenes when you upload a instagram photo what happens when you request a google what are thing happening between the browser and website all this maybe a common questions which are also very important to become a better hacker it’s vital to understand the underlying functions of the world wide web and what makes it work. Linux Fundamentals- You’re most likely using a Windows or Mac machine, both are differentin visual design and how they operate. Just like Windows, iOS and MacOS,Linux is just another operating system and one of the most popular in the world powering smart cars, android devices, supercomputers, home appliances, enterprise servers, and more, it’s not just Itcomes with a set of tools but you need to get with linux command line which will make your life easier in a long journey,
Windows Fundamentals- A most common operaring system which has bunch of flaws and to do some hard core exploitation you need to learn the basic so this module got you covered with windows basics.
